This position is a Primary/Rigorous Firefighter position and is covered under Special Firefighter Retirement. Title 5 U.S.C. 3307 authorizes the head of an agency to establish a maximum entry age for the original appointment of individuals to the position of primary firefighter. For initial appointments, applicants cannot have reached their 37th birthday by date of appointment. An applicant reentering into a Primary Firefighter position may have the maximum entry age adjusted based on prior covered Firefighter federal service. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; and/or 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Performing structural and crash firefighting duties; 2) Using firefighting equipment such as:
operating hoses, using ladders and hydrants; 3) Detecting the presence of potentially hazardous material; and/or 4) Maintaining firefighting equipment and fire station facilities, performing functional test and inspection of firefighting equipment. NOTE:

At the GS-05 grade level, you may also qualify based upon the education or the combination of education stated in the Education Section of this announcement. This position requires the incumbent to possess certifications. For GS-06 the incumbent must possess the following certifications:
Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator-Pumper, AND Driver Operator-Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. You MUST submit a copy of all certifications with your application package. For GS-05 the incumbent must possess the following certifications:
Firefighter I, Firefighter II, AND Airport Firefighter. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
